Re:Web of Mediocrity

Juan Rodriguez wrote an article in the Montreal Gazette titled the 'Web of Mediocrity' which I found somewhat obtuse. Here is my response to that article.
(The article is only available online for paying members, so you will have had to have read it in paper form for proper context...)

Ubuntu: backed by a great community

I promised to come back and visit the community aspect of Ubuntu because I feel that it is an underrated feature of this OS. I'm sure most of you have had an experience where you are trying to do something with Windows and you just cant seem to figure it out. I have been in that situation many times and I have always been kind of discouraged with the amount of support that I can get. Its not that the answers are not out there, because for the most part they are, but you can only really rely on google to find them.

Ubuntu: package management at its best

I have been working with Ubuntu exclusively for the last 2 years. I switched because I was sure there was something better than Windows out there and I was willing to try to find it. It has been one of the most satisfying changes in my desktop experience since I can remember. I am going to have a hard time to give you a tangible feeling for what I mean, but in this post I will do my best.

From the beginning...

I started working with web based development and design when I was 16. I started out working mainly with graphic design and then moving more towards web development as I got closer to heading off to university.
